Due to the size and weight, even the most mundane encounter can lead to fatal trucking collisions.
Over the course of my career, I’ve seen the damage that a tractor-trailer accident can cause. Not only is the physical pain overwhelming, but your financial and emotional future is potentially at stake.
Hopefully, an example of a recent accident that occurred in Traveler’s Rest will help demonstrate the ever-present dangers of these large vehicles.

Fatal Trucking Collisions in Travelers Rest
According to media reports, a 23-year-old woman tragically died on Saturday (November 7, 2020). The fatal trucking collision occurred on U.S. Highway 25 off East Bowers Rd in the afternoon.
This fatal accident appears to involve a tow truck operator making a U-Turn. Unfortunately, the woman was entrapped inside the vehicle and the cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma.

What are the rules of the road for U-Turns?
“The driver of any vehicle shall not turn such vehicle so as to proceed in the opposite direction unless such movement can be made in safety and without interfering with other traffic.” S.C. Code § 56-5-2140
Generally speaking, a driver may make a U-turn if there is enough clearance to do so without causing a collision. However, the questions isn’t whether you can, but rather whether it’s safe and legal to do so. In many areas of the Upstate, U-turns are prohibited.
If there is a sign prohibiting a U-turn, then it is illegal to make a U-turn. In determining whether it is safe and legal to make a U-turn, an investigation is necessary. When my office is retained by the family of a deceased in a traffic accident, we customarily perform an investigation to determine whether any traffic laws have been violated.
As your advocate, I will investigate and advise you on the best course of action for your case and family.
