There has been an Ikea dresser recall issued. After being blamed for the deaths of three children, Ikea is finally issuing a recall of millions of dressers. In 2015, after the deaths of two toddlers due to dressers not being fastened to the wall, Ikea launched a repair program. Instead of altering the design or pulling the dressers off of the market, Ikea provided 300,000 new anchor kits for those customers who hadn’t secured them with the originally provided hardware.
“We are announcing this recall today given the recent tragic death of a third child. It is clear that there are still unsecured products in customers’ homes, and we believe that taking further action is the right thing to do,” the company said in a statement Monday.
The company states that if you have a “Malm” series dresser, please take it out of the room and contact Ikea for a free repair kit or refund.
Since 1989, three other deaths have been linked to different Ikea dressers.
