The FDA is alerting consumers of two voluntary hand sanitizer recalls. One of these alerts involves Saniderm Advanced Hand Sanitizer and the other is for All Clean Hand Sanitizer, Moisturizer and Disinfectant.
These recalls all revolve around the presence of one dangerous ingredient: Methanol. According to the FDA, each of the products listed in this post could cause serious health problems. Tests conducted by the FDA shows that two of the product lines – Lavar Gel and CleanCare No Germ – contained some Methanol, which triggered the hand sanitizer recall. Methanol is a chemical that can be toxic when absorbed in the skin and is not an acceptable ingredient in hand sanitizers.
