Before diving into the specific solutions and alternatives to DUI, let’s back up and look at a quick overview of driving distractions in general.

Now that you have the right mindset, it’s time to dive into five easy solutions to avoid DUI and some helpful advice on how to best utilize each solution. Many of these options seem simple, but it’s important to understand that DUI is easily avoidable. One little piece of advice when thinking about each of the solutions below. Before you start drinking, figure out which transportation situation works best for you and make sure to tell someone (that’s not drinking) your plans for the evening.
Solution No. 1: Don’t get in the driver seat
Seriously. Simply choosing not to get in the driver’s seat is all you need in order to avoid a DUI. The following solutions are strategies after making the right decision not to drink and drink.
Solution No. 2: Don’t drive to the restaurant
If you want to avoid the frustration of getting your vehicle back home, then don’t drive or let anyone else who intends on drinking drive their car in the first place. By leaving your car at home, you’re removing the temptation to drive. Also, once you decide on the right transportation option to reach your destination, you can simply use the same ride to head back home.
Solution No. 3: Assign a Designated Driver
Assigning a designated driver is the fastest and most likely (more on why this might not be the case in just a moment) the least expensive option. Solution No. 4: Call
If there isn’t a designated driver in your group, you can arrange for someone to pick you up. Confirming the details before going out is the best way to handle the situation. Ensure the person is aware of where you’re planning on going if you’re going to multiple places, when to pick you up and who you will be with, in case the person can’t reach you.
